Has your child’s behavior been driving you nuts? Not sure how to get your child to listen?
Grow your parenting skills toolkit and improve your parent-child relationship by turning everyday dilemmas into positive, learning opportunities.
Have you ever seen other parents out with their children and wondered, “why is that child so well behaved?”
You’d love to get the same results, but how?
Do they have something that you don’t?
Nope!
Here’s why parents and caregivers are the best people to change behavior and coach their child’s behavior.
You know your child the best!
You want to equip your child with lifelong skills that extend beyond childhood.
The relationship that you have with your child will set the tone for your child’s future relationships.
You can do it, too. Just imagine….
Asking your child to do something once and him/her listening to you.
Having more positive interactions with your child (less temper tantrums and no more yelling).
Being able to remove the power struggle between yourself and your child.
Helping your child learn how to identify his/her emotions, express them appropriately, and problem-solve.

- You love your child and want the best for him/her.
- You’re committed to changing your behavior so that you have MORE positive interactions with your child (and spend less time disciplining your child).
- You’re devoted to working with your child by setting expectations, being consistent, and modeling how you want your child to behave (you gotta practice what you preach).
- You’re so over some of the current parenting practices you’re using because they aren’t working.
- You’ve been trying to be a better parent for a while now, and you’re frustrated and feeling like you’re “not cut out” to be an amazing parent. It’s not true!
GP2P is not for you if...
- You're looking for a quick, easy fix without having to do much of anything (good luck with that).
- You're content with the current status of the relationship that you have with your child.
- You don't believe that you can change your child's behavior.
- You don't have kids (or work with kids) and don't plan on it anytime soon. (It's okay if you have nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and/or students.)
- You're looking for one way to change all of your child's behaviors. Nope, not gonna happen! This is all about building your toolkit as a parent and teaching you how to problem-solve your child's behavior.
So who is this Get Psyched 2 Parent coach Leading you on this journey?
Hey, y’all! I’m your coach (and cheerleader), Amy Patenaude.
I help children and their families develop deeper, more positive relationships at home and at school. I do this by teaching complex education, psychology, and behavior principles in simple step-by-step ways. I help fellow parents (and teachers and caregivers) create happy, well-rounded relationships.
I’ve earned graduate degrees in school psychology and worked in the field of education for over a decade. I’ve read the latest research and parenting books out there.
Now, as a parent coach and school psychologist, I’ve worked with many families and their children. I’ve seen children go from throwing temper tantrums in Target when they can’t pick out a toy or get a treat at the checkout counter and parents raise their voices, pick up their child and leave, and/or give in to their child’s tyrannical demands. Guess what? I’ve seen these same parents and children change their behavior (with a little bit of coaching and a boost of confidence). On another trip to Target, I’ve seen the child express their desire to get a toy or treat, share their feelings with the parent, and watched the parent acknowledge and validate the child’s feelings while continuing to reinforce that the child could not have the toy or treat. There were no tears or temper tantrums by the parent or child. 😉
But...
Things haven’t always been this sweet. The year I had my second child, I lost my sister in a car accident in January 2014. It was devastating. Later that year, when my daughter was born in August, I wasn’t the best mom to my newborn or three year old. I used all of the parenting techniques that I know (and knew) that weren’t the best for my kiddos. I raised my voice, lost my temper, and spanked my son (Looking back on this, I cringe every time that I admit this. I know that there are decades and decades of research on the detriments of spanking. #momguiltisreal)
What started as a whim and a desire to be a better mom myself quickly became one of my most powerful decisions in my life. I’m grateful every day for this community of parents I’ve created online. I know we are all working towards taking small steps each day to be a little bit better as parents! Team—you rock! (If you haven’t joined us yet, head over to #psyched2parent on Instagram and Facebook. You are always welcome!)
