The Story Behind Psyched2Parent
For as long as I can remember, I have loved learning, growing, and pushing myself, whether it was learning a new recipe in the kitchen, being accepted into graduate, or becoming a parent.
I met with one of my mentors earlier this year and expressed my interest in starting a blog. How hard could that be, right? (Don’t get me started on building a website from scratch, designing a brand, and logo! At least, now I can say that I have these skills.)
One of his first questions to me was, “why are you doing this?.” I had to stop and think about this question.
Why did I want to launch a blog? I have a family with 2 small kiddos, I have an awesome career and travel for work, and, I work on a contract basis as a school psychologist in Tampa. That sounds like a busy schedule, right?
It took me some time and reflection to think about whether or not I was really up for this whole “blogging thing.” 👩💻
Here’s what I came up with:
I believe that all parents love ❤️ their children 👶 and want the best for them. However, it’s not always easy to know what to do or who to ask for help. I’ve created the blog to share information and research that I’ve found from the fields of education, medicine, and psychology to provide guidance and help other parents (and myself) reflect on parenting practices.
Thank you for coming on this journey with me!🛣 I believe that we can all be a little bit better, one day at a time. ☀️
As a mom, who also has two young ones, I cannot tell you how needed this is and how much I look forward to utilizing this blog both as a resource for questions I have but also to equip my parenting ‘tool belt’ with items I don’t yet know I need. Thanks, Amy!!
